Since the December 2019 General Election, which the Conservative Party won with a majority of 80, the NHS has been set for a post-election boost in funding. Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid has announced that his first Budget will take place on 11 March 2020, in which the NHS is sure to be a key talking point.
The Conservative Government led by Boris Johnson is promising £34 billion in extra spending for NHS in the years between 2019 and 2024. This includes a £20.5 billion increase in spending for NHS England, which is the largest five-year increase in spending since the mid-2000s.
