NHS Lothian has been underfunded by £365 million over the last 11 years, according to new figures, and now Lothian Conservative MSP Miles Biggs has called for a review of the funding formula, to help stop NHS Lothian being at a disadvantage.
NHS Deficit
Mr Biggs’ comments come in the wake of an Audit Scotland report which showed NHS Lothian is predicting a £90m deficit by 2020/21. The MSP said that the deficit, which is almost half of the total £207m forecast across all Scottish Health boards, was an accumulation of underfunding from NHS Lothian since 2009/10.
