With the electioneering well underway, members of the NHS Confederation have issued a stark warning to parliamentary candidates over the ongoing social care crisis.
A snap poll, conducted by the NHS Confederation, revealed that 97% of health leaders thought the social care crisis was having a detrimental effect on patient care and the NHS as a whole.
Of those leaders, 81% strongly agreed that the social care sector was in need of a long-term plan and a programme of investment – much like the NHS itself. Moreover, upwards of 70% said that the creation of a sustainable social care system should be a ‘critical priority’ for the major parties post-election.
