New £1.1 million base opened in Aberdeen
Scottish Health Secretary Jeane Freeman has officially opened a new base for Scotland’s emergency adult retrieval service. Using helicopters, planes or fast-response vehicles, the ScotSTAR North base in Aberdeen provides potentially life-saving pre-hospital care for trauma and other critically ill patients.
The consultant-led teams at the new base are there to provide major incident pre-hospital medical response, retrievals of patients with major trauma, critically ill and critically injured patients and telephone advice to remote and rural hospital staff with regard to resuscitation and safe transfer of patients with critical illness.
