Insulin Pen Prescribing Review Saves Local NHS £44,000 Annually

A new pharmacist-led review of the prescribing of insulin pens on the Isle of Wight has led to an annual saving of £44,000 on the island.

The review, which was commissioned by NHS Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), assessed the cost per 100 needles and the length of needle prescribed for some 6,818 patients who regularly used pre-filled and reusable insulin pens.
