NHS Sets Out Plans to Train, Hire and Retain Thousands More Staff in Interim People Plan

The new NHS Interim People Plan (IPP) has revealed that the NHS needs to be ‘the best place to work’ in order to gain more staff and recruit a further 40,000 nurses.

NHS England and NHS Improvement have developed the IPP over the last few months and have also proposed numerous measures to help tackle the current “once in a generation” NHS workforce crisis. Bosses in the NHS say they are looking to significantly improve their retention rates by putting a greater emphasis on career development, with international recruitment also being targeted. This will be done by appointing lead agencies to co-ordinate the recruitment search.
