UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock has acknowledged that there have been some ‘challenges’ in supplying personal protective equipment (PPE) to NHS staff in England. However, he added he is determined to rise to these challenges.
Last week, NHS staff reported a lack of protective gear was putting them at risk during the COVID-19 crisis. Mr Hancock reassured them that he was taking the issue ‘very seriously’, noting that one million face masks had been bought over the weekend.
